The main topic of discussion was relations between WJOA and WJCIA regarding next year’s conference. WJOA informed WJCIA they will not join us in Stevens Point in '07.

Cathy Connolly reports the PEP Committee is going to be coming to an end October 26, 2006. She reports there is ongoing discussion and concern regarding the amount of trainings required for new employees at the County level. She indicates their department has made a commitment to get input from counties regarding the needed training and how this will affect their ability to serve clients. Cathy also reports there is a strong desire and push for web-based training. She indicates there is research available suggesting web-based training to be as effective as trainings where employees attend in-person, and they may possibly be more effective. Cathy reports the State Legislature will have to approve the current recommendations of the PEP Committee, and they should receive an answer by the end of February or March 2007.
Conference Committee
There are currently 317 attendees registered.
Conference Site Committee
2007 conference will be held in Stevens Point. They are continuing to work out the details for this contract.
Newsletter Committee
Information for the next Prima Facie are needed by the end of October .
Training Committee
September training in Wisconsin Dells went well. The next scheduled training is November 30, 2006.
Legislative Committee
One of the main areas of interest for the Legislative Committee will be to continue efforts to get the Threat to Harm Social Workers Bill introduced and possibly passed into law.
Membership Committee
224 current members.
Recognition Committee
Recognition award winner should be allowed to have a free pass to the conference of their choice, either the current year’s conference or the upcoming year’s conference due to availability and short notice.
Nomination Committee
Nomination Committee is doing well. They currently have three names and possibly more by the upcoming board election.
