The WJCIA is an independent, professional organization established to provide support, training and a common sense of purpose for juvenile court intake workers as individuals and as a professional group. The powers and duties of intake workers are as described in s 48.067 and 938.067. Intake workers address CHIPS, JIPS, and Delinquency cases. The WJCIA will provide representation for intake workers with the legislature, other professional organizations, and governmental agencies. The WJCIA will work to establish professional and educational standards for intake workers, provide informed input into policy and statute development, advocate for increased professionalism in the field of juvenile court intake, and advocate for the rights of people involved with the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
